Lyly genuinely enjoys working with folks across the lifespan – adults, kids, teens, and families, particularly with youth and LGBTQIA+ young people navigating identity, confidence, relationships, and the sometimes complicated business of growing into themselves. Her work meets young people in their world, which has included everything from traditional therapy tools to using Avatar Legends and Dungeons & Dragons to explore identity, practice social and relational skills, take risks, and try on different ways of showing up. She brings curiosity, humor, creativity, and a healthy respect for special interests into the therapy room rather than expecting every young person to connect through sitting and talking. Lyly also works collaboratively with parents and caregivers, helping families better understand what a young person may be communicating through their emotions and behavior while strengthening connection at home. Grounded in neurodiversity-affirming, trauma-informed, and Feminist Multicultural approaches, her work starts from the belief that different brains and identities aren’t problems to fix, but parts of a whole person worth understanding.
